written work

After winning second place in the state of Virginia for a creative writing competition in high school, I realized that writing was a passion and a skill that I must continue to hone into my future, wherever it takes me. Below are examples of my prose and scriptwriting work from both undergraduate and graduate school.

PRose

Prose Sample: Carnations

Written for an advanced fiction workshop, Carnations is the short tale of two friends who find that they can no longer understand each other, both so invested in their own worlds that their realities never truly meet. In the language of flowers, striped carnations represent unrequited feelings.

Scripts

Script Sample: Mysteries of Misthaven

Mysteries of Misthaven is an immersive experience designed for my MFA thesis in 2023. The experience is set in a high fantasy inspired town on the brink of collapse, where feuding resident factions carry out their own whims in secrecy. Guests who attend the experience meet residents, gather information and clues, and pick which factions they wish to follow — or betray — throughout the events of the evening. The script allows for guest input with simultaneous branching paths and four different endings. Scene headings correspond to a spreadsheet denoting time stamp and location, rather than progressing chronologically — therefore, scene 1A and scene 1B would be occurring at the same time, but in different locations.
